Your local application route
Hangzhou’s Zhijiang Notary guide directs foreign applicants to the last-residence notary and asks for evidence of at least half a year in China plus police-issued criminal-record evidence. A 2024 operator guide describes district Exit-Entry handling by the registered accommodation address.
Who may be eligible
- The notary’s foreign-applicant category refers to half a year of residence in China. Its checklist must not be replaced by the separate Chinese-hukou requirements on the same page.
- The operator guide instead describes 180 days in Hangzhou. Treat the difference as a question for the responsible police office, not a universal city rule.
A tourist visa, residence permit and temporary accommodation registration are different records. If your stay included several statuses or cities, explain the timeline before relying on a single certificate.
Documents to prepare
- Passport and the relevant historical China visa, residence-permit and accommodation evidence.
- Police-issued criminal-record result and the residence evidence the chosen notary requests.
- Accepted authorization and representative’s identity document for delegated work; check overseas signature formalities and originals before filing.
Applying from outside China
The operator describes an overseas-authorized representative and a possible notary-initiated police inquiry letter. Its statement about consular authentication needs checking against the applicable current Apostille route, and an officer’s reported willingness to waive a document must not be sold as an entitlement.
Notarization, translation & Apostille
Hangzhou Internet Notary’s older 2018 guide flags a practical issue: some recipients want the police original as well as a notarial certificate. Ask the receiving organization and current notary about required originals before an office retains your only copy.
How we help with your application
- Identify the last registered Hangzhou address and the corresponding police office.
- Confirm eligibility, overseas authorization and whether a notary inquiry letter is needed.
- Obtain the police result through the accepted personal or representative route.
- Agree the notarial wording, translation, retained originals and destination-specific authentication.
Before you sign or courier anything
- Does the current police office count China-wide or Hangzhou-specific residence for this case?
- Is the notary inquiry-letter route available, and to whom will the police send the result?
- Which originals, authenticated authorization and retained police copies are needed?
Send the receiving authority’s document instructions with personal identifiers removed. We use them to agree the required dates, language, number of copies and delivery format before commissioning work.
